- Comedy has a universal appeal (while not everyone likes the same music, everybody enjoys a laugh).
- It can help to get extra customers into your venue on the night of the show. Live comedy is one of the most effective ways to bring in mid-week trade or to boost weekend numbers.
- It will increase food and drink sales (comedy punters are traditionally prodigious boozers).
- It will increase customer awareness of your venue, attracting some to your place for the first time.
- It will increase the amount of time people stay in your venue.
- It will increase the profile of your venue by promotions through local and national listings, the press and the internet. Please note that Stagefright will take care of all the listings requirements, approaching local papers and radio to arrange previews and interviews.
“I have been working with Anthony for several years now, he brought the Spotlight Comedy Club to the Winding Wheel and it has gone from strength to strength over the years. Anthony is a great person to work with, always reliable, amiable, always does the legwork required, he has a great attitude and is a talented compere/comic in his own right. He has always produced a great line up for the comedy nights and has helped us to create a regionally recognised and successful annual competition with the Crooked Smile Awards which has generated a lot of press and sponsorship for our organisation”
“Anthony was excellent to work with. He responded to all emails within 24 hrs with positive responses to any of my queries. On the night he turned up early to ensure the night ran without any hitches.
The Comedy Club Night that I organised and held at Dore and Totley Golf Club was the first of this kind to be held there. The night was very well received by all members and guests (approx 105 people attended – room can hold up to 120 max). All 4 comedians were very good indeed and the exceptional compare blended the night all together and entertained the audience in between each act with precise expertise and empathy with the audience.
Without question the star of the night was Anthony himself who performed a very polished act and kept everyone mesmerised for nearly 45 minutes. Feedback following the night has all been very positive and based on this feedback I will definitely consider another Comedy Club Night sometime in the near future. Value for money was excellent. I included pie and peas for the night as this created a nice break between the 4 acts.
I would recommend this night and Anthony’s Stagefright Comedy organisation to any golf club and I am happy to answer any questions from golf club social chairmen directly”.

“We had an outstanding Curry and Comedy Night at Tapton Secondary School, organised by our PTA who joined forces for the night with our local Junior School PTFA. Combining the two and sharing all costs and proceeds meant that we were able to sell twice as many tickets as we would have done on our own and, with a well-stocked bar and food, there was a great atmosphere. The evening brought people together and also, with raffle and bar profits, raised over £500 for the two schools. Anthony J Brown was excellent in his organisation and management of the event, prompt and helpful (even producing a poster design for us) and almost instantaneous in his response to any questions we had. The team he assembled consisted of 4 excellent comedians and a compere who delivered a marvellous evening with seamless good humour which our audience thoroughly enjoyed. What a great night!”

“During a comedy evening at Ikley Playhouse Anthony J Brown was one of four guest comedians. After an extremely funny evening I realised a comedy evening would make the perfect fundraising event! I’ve been heavily involved in fundraising and am always looking for new ideas; something other than the usual quiz, fashion show or summer fate. A comedy evening was something new and fresh and I contacted Anthony to see if he could assist us. He was very helpful and organised (and competitively priced!) and he provided us with a great line-up. Our event “Pie/Peas and a Whole Lot of Laughter” was held in May 2011 to raise funds for St Edwards Church at Clifford and was a 130 person sell out within a week. The event was so successful and the line-up was a huge hit, in particular A J Brown; you just didn’t want his act to end – every line he delivered made you cry with laughter to the point it hurt! One year on we contacted Anthony again to arrange another evening in aid of TABS Cricket Club (we packed the hall to capacity – standing room only!) and once more we all enjoyed one of the funniest nights of our lives. I would thus recommend anybody looking to raise some funds and have a great night out in the process contact Anthony”.
