EDINBURGH FESTIVAL PREVIEW DOUBLE HEADER SPECIAL
‘A first class comic’ – The Guardian
‘Highly engaging, inherently funny … an innate ability to ad lib laughs out of thin air’ – Chortle.co.uk
‘Manages to combine infectious enthusiasm with astutely well-informed political opinions’ **** ThreeWeeks
As seen on ‘Have I Got News for You’, ’8 Out Of 10 Cats’ and ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ and as heard on ‘The Now Show’ and ‘The News Quiz’. A former political adviser, Matt isn’t a typical twenty-something; a passionate, opinionated and excitable young man he loves football, ‘Prime Minister’s Questions’ and pasties. He has also gone to extraordinary lengths to get close to both Tony Blair and Brian Clough – and has the pictures to prove it. He’ll be previewing his forthcoming Edinburgh Festival show – The Political Party. Matt is a writer on ’8 Out of 10 Cats’ and ‘Stand-Up for the Week’ and can also be heard on his own late night phone-in show on the Sony-Award winning talkSPORT. Every Friday night Matt tackles the latest news and sports stories with his characteristic intelligence, warmth and wit.
‘Hutchinson’s trump card is the way he interacts with the audience, rolling with every ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ his material generated, giving a dynamism and spontaneity to his performance’ – Chortle
Originally from the North East of England, now residing in Manchester, Carl Hutchinson first took to the stage in 2007 and quickly became a multi-award winning comedian. In August of that year Carl reached the final of the esteemed So You Think You’re Funny competition held in Edinburgh and in October of the same year he was crowned the winner of the Beat the Frog World Series competition held in Manchester. Not content with just one award he headed to Camden in October 2008 to become the Mangers Pub Comedian of the Year. Then in February 2009 Carl was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. Since then he has supported Chris Ramsey on several UK theatre tours (including the triumphant warm-up show at The Fishpond) and will be previewing his forthcoming solo Edinburgh show.
‘His claim that all his stories are founded in truth appears in itself to be truthful; as a single 30 year old who has only recently moved out of his parents’ house, Young’s experiences speak to a generation and the crowd laps it up tonight’ – Gigglebeats
Compere – Anthony J Brown
‘Hilarious ad-libs and wicked one-liners from an infectiously funny performer’ – The List
Clad in a sartorially edifying manner, like a dapper and dandy funeral director, Anthony cuts a unique on-stage presence with humour blacker than a raven that’s slammed it’s claw in a coffin lid. Jongleurs/Metro ‘Stand & Deliver’ Award winner and former BBC New Comedy Award Runner-up he is a regular contributor to Radio 2′s ‘The Arthur Smith Lectures’. As seen on ‘The Stand Up Show’ and ‘Phoenix Nights’.
