“So much biblical gusto and zest it is impossible not to be possessed by his optimistic persona ****” broadwaybaby.com
“The word ‘charisma’ is bandied around too often, but Christian does have it in spades” – Chortle
“If you’re a fan of Bill Bailey or Rich Hall, you’re probably a Christian Reilly fan already” – The Guardian
In 1999 Christian started playing guitar and singing for the American comic polymath, Rich Hall. High points included winning the Perrier Award in 2001 for “Rich Hall is Otis Lee Crenshaw”, being on subsequent CD and DVD releases, seeing the world, appearing on stage with Seinfeld star Michael Richards and getting on Late Night with Conan O’ Brien. He was a regular on a BBC radio show with the Richard Herring, called That Was Then, This Is Now that was critically acclaimed and lasted for 3 series. Christian has now established himself as a headline performer all over the world with his charming onstage confidence machine-gunning impossibly catchy tunes with hysterical lyrical content.
“Revelatory and very funny” – The Guardian
“Warm, funny, frank and thought-provoking” – The Scotsman
Britain’s only deaf comedian. Well if there are any others he hasn’t heard.
A familiar figure on Radio 4, Steve has appeared regularly on You and Yours, was a token man on Woman’s Hour, has appeared in two radio dramas, All Fingers and Thumbs with Bill Nighy, whom he punched dramatically, and Sound Barriers with Patricia Routledge and Caroline Quentin. Chortle gave him five stars in for his Edinburgh show Deafy’s Island Discs, a show The Sunday Times called ‘Funny and Moving’. This show subsequently toured UK theatres, and has been performed in several countries in Europe and translated into Italian.
